Happy President's Day!
Thanks Brian! I spent some time this weekend researching high school home school curriculum. Pickings for really good curriculum start getting slip around 9th grade. We are thinking about a custom class for 9th grade social studies, based on the video series from creator RealLifeLore that focuses on the history and geography of current global flashpoints. Might as well incorporate some potentially useful knowledge.
I'm about to dig into a pile of work, but procrastinating by way of some MO updates before I start crunching numbers.
Is anyone else daydreaming about next trip to FL? Probably part of my general procrastination this morning!

What’s this yeae’s musical? This year it is mean girls. Let's just say that this house wasn't as excited for this musical as last year's. I love the movie, but the musical really misses some of the silliness that the movie had.

Selling stuff on eBay, and dealing with humanity...
Not my favorite thing but wife had something she didn't want anymore and it was potentially worth more than just a little bit so I didn't want to just give it to goodwill or whatever. So I list this thing and somebody offers me less so I think about it overnight and then accept it. The lady receives the item and then writes me that it isn't as described...which makes me somewhat angry because the pictures clearly show what you will get, but technically the description I provided could be read in such as way as you would think something else, if that was your preconceived notion. Okay, fine, I'm not saying "my bad" but I'll bite my tongue and tell her "my bad." I offer her a partial refund to help smooth things over, or I say she can send the whole thing back for a full refund. Pay attention boys and girls, those are our two choices: partial refund or full refund.
I check email this morning and I have two emails from this person, which I will quote in their entirety: Email one: "That sounds fair." Email two: "Refund please."
Umm...
This is where I would use that emoji of Captain Picard sitting in his chair, holding his face in his hand...

I use to use eBay back about 10 years ago. When I first retired I figured I could start selling stuff but it seems harder now. I can't get thru the descriptors to establish a listing.

There was a time I would buy something from eBay if a really need it, never a big user but after seeing some of the people going to Disney and pulling merchandise by the car load to go sale on eBay I will never use it again.
MK must have been nuts yesterday, drove by the parking lot about 9:30am and they had already filled the area west of the dirt pile and were starting on the east side. There was also still a backup at the parking plaza that stretched onto World Drive. We haven't seen it that busy in a long time. We weren't over there but reports out of EPCOT were that they were also nuts.

Add in the princess run madness and it's going to be a hot mess there this week.

How bad do you think it will be for Thanksgiving this year. We are debating on going earlier in November or at Thanksgiving when the kids wont miss so much school However, this year we will be bringing a brand new baby 3 or 4 months so we are unsure about bringing her into crowding. (We have a big group now)

Soooo many people were leaving after fireworks and yet it was still quite busy.

In the "crazy weather" department, it's March 3 and it's supposed to be 72 and sunny here in Minnesota. Not a bit of snow on the ground, actually I think so far in 2024 we've gotten maybe an inch or two. It's nuts. Back to what I presume to be "normal" temps for the coming week, like low 50s. Actually that seems a little warm, but not too far off I suppose.

In fact, it has rained every day in March so far!
Oh, and no snow here, but the Sierra snow pack is getting healthy finally.
Cheers.

We had a crazy 6 inches the day after super warm weather which helped our total. Otherwise only an inch or two here or there.

It's beautiful out. Unfortunately on Babysitting Tuesday there's a 80% chance of rain.

Unfortunately consistently back to the freaking 80s here this week…
Anxiously awaiting November once again.

So DH wanted a Ring (I really think it is a FOMO/nosy 'thing'). I resisted because I thought it was probably more aggravating than it was worth. Consequently, our eldest bought gifted us a Ring. Guess What? It is aggravating. Darn thing goes off for every car, sidewalk inhabitant and flag wave. So we tried to restrict it's reach - unsuccessfully. My son finally figured out how to turn off the 'neighbors' notices and the flag décor is on hiatus. So annoying. I might need to buy a Mickey Gnome.

I don't like pushing a doorbell and it doesn't make real doorbell sounds. And electronically recreated doorbell sounds won't do, either.
While we are on the topic of me being old, when was the last time anybody used a landline? Not too long ago I was using one of the wall-mounted rotary phones (!) out in my garage and I was talking to my mom, who was also using a wall-mounted (but no longer rotary) phone, and the sound quality was fantastic. And I love the ringers.
And if you happen to have one of the phones (rotary or pushbutton) that was the Bell standard desk phone for decades, you just can't beat the sound and feel of slamming the earpiece down on the cradle, and hearing the bells inside the unit make a meek "ring" that fades away as you stew about what the other person said. One of my grandmothers had that phone (I have it now) and she was known for slamming everything down, not necessarily out of anger...just everything was put down non-gently. I have distinct memories of the sound that phone made when it was unceremoniously picked up and put down in a new spot on the kitchen table.
