We actually spent the whole day at the zoo. Went straight to Pandas. Did the rest of the zoo, stopping by the Pandas a second time. Good thing you are going soon. This year the contract was suppose to expire and they were sending them back to China, but never listed the dates of when that was happening. Not sure if that has changed, so definitely enjoy as they may be gone soon. Mid October, DD tells me. The timing and flight prices work well. Definitely great timing. Have a feeling it may be a little crowded because of that. Hopefully not for you but just like Disney, be prepared.

Sounds like a lovely day! Thanks, it was! My Sister and I were on a “panda” trip starting at the Memphis Zoo and then on to Atlanta. We had such a great time that we kept with the zoo theme for our following trip and ended up in your neck of the woods; Toledo, then Columbus, then Cincinnati Zoo’s finishing up at Indianapolis Zoo. I I'm very regularly at the Columbus zoo! In fact, we just had some Pallas' cats eree kittens born. I need to go check out these cute little kittens. Maybe the later this week if it's not threatening to rain.

Atlanta. Any touristy suggestions? DD said yesterday, "I've never seen a panda other than in pictures, and they have pandas at the Atlanta Zoo." She found $65 round trip flights, so we're going for the day next Saturday. We're scheduled to arrive in ATL at 9:15 AM and our return flight is around 9:30 PM. The zoo should take up our morning. Any suggestions for the afternoon? We'll have a rental car. Looks like we picked a great weekend to go to Atlanta. I've already canceled our dinner reservation. For the rest we'll watch the weather, the airport website and zoo website, and see what happens.

And Atlanta is still at home for the weekend...and then the rescheduled games. We'll see what happens.
Cheers.

The Atlanta trip was a success. We saw the pandas. Twice, because the first time through they were sleeping. DW had the "panda cam" on her phone and about an hour later, one was awake so we got in line again. It was about a 30 minute wait to get to see them. When we got to go into the panda room, both were awake. Very cool. The zoo grounds are very hilly and that wore on me. The gorillas and orangutans were very active, which was cool. The vulture exhibit had a fake zebra carcass on the ground, and I immediately thought of the Jungle Cruise. We filled in time before dinner at the World of Coke. I'm not big on touristy things, and this is a giant touristy thing. It is a very well put together exhibit, starting with a fun, brief spiel from a tour guide, then a short film in which everyone is happy during various life events and drinks Coke; the remainder is self-guided. They do have a room that is like Club Cool on steroids. Some of the Coke products that used to be in Club Cool (Mezzo Mix comes to mind) are there. Beverly is there. Yum. Dinner--Holeman and Finch, a southern influenced gastropub. Excellent. Very long day--alarm went off at 4 AM and we got home about 12:45 AM.

Fluff piece I saw just now, and something compelled me to click it. "Best time to use the airplane bathroom, according to a flight attendant."
Want to hear the answer? For the cleanest, least crowded bathroom experience? After the plane has boarded but before it takes off.
Hm. Well there's 30 seconds of my life I won't get back. That's what I get for clicking on stuff. At least I got a good laugh!
