I really enjoyed the find & seek Olympics Google game they had! We'll say the screw driver was almost perfect My car update, '06 Civic was indeed totaled. The check we are getting will more than cover the Leaf we bought. I call it a win. And save money on gas and maintenance! Yep! It's our second EV so I am happy with the progression. Kid loves the car too so double win. Civic was towed this morning and title dropped off to the salvage yard.

Hope it won't be too bad for you! What kind of EV do you drive? Mine is a Mini SE Love the Mini SE! I drive a Tesla Model Y. DW drives a Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Pinnacle. My friend who sold us our Civic has a Tesla Y and is very happy. Someone just asked me why I don't have a Tesla. They're fine and all but so big compared to my Mini My previous car was a Mini as well but not electric so it was an easy switch for me. A Pacifica feels huge as well. The Leaf is okay to me at least size wise. I love all the options we have now though. We still have my spouse's Civic but I imagine when that one dies our next will be an EV as well. Kid could use it at college too if he goes somewhere without charging readily available.

I always joke and say my car is a glorified 2 seater. The back is down often lol Now if my kid played flute, clarinet, or on his trumpet regularly still, it wouldn't be an issue. I'm sure his Civic will make it the next 2 years. We are very lucky for the quick job find. He has this week off still but has been treating it like vacation. It's going to suck come next Monday when none of us are used to being up before 8. My bedtime has shifted to the wee hours of the morning. This post was just liked... ate my words there didn't I? But at least the Civic left us due to an accident and nothing else. I'm sure someone will salvage it.

Don't tell DH but I have 2 - you heard right, 2! - reservations for our September vacation. One's a Jaleo to see those flying around things and the other's at Olga's. I'm hoping the Jaleo thing works out as I booked it thru Open Table and with OT's process we could pick drinks on waterfront patio versus special meal the Disney site offers. Now I'm hoping J's honors the reservation. I'm thinking that for HS's we can do a 'crawl' incorporating Olga's. If I can figure out this new G+/LL system, we might even get on a ride. LOL

Just spent 3+ hours in the kitchen. Blah. First try at Potato and Leek soup, I'm going to say it's like...flavorful, slightly-thin mashed potatoes. I'm thinking I may have boiled the potatoes too long and they mushed up too much. Maybe someday I will try again, maybe I won't. Maybe tonight at dinner I can add more stock and make it more soup-like. Maybe. A guy on the radio was saying that he used some sort of app over the weekend to rent a really fancy sports car for a day, a Lotus - i.e. something unobtainable in any realistic sense. This made me wonder what I would want. Something that would be unrealistic to buy or own, that I don't really want to have but want to drive just once. I said "Deuce and a half" and my wife's like "What!" (even though I did consider buying a Vietnam-era one at a point in the past). Then I said that well, it might be fun to try like a late-80s / early-90s BMW, back when they were still Driving Machines built for Drivers. But something like that isn't exactly "unrealistic". Then I said "maybe a DeLorean". Then I said "Oh! Road grader" and she thought I was crazy. Looks like the army truck is sitting in the 7-12k range and I saw a road grader for $52,000. I would consider that both impractical to own and somewhat out of my price range. And I thought taking the school bus to the Taco Bell was awkward. At least I got to sit in the deuce and a half one time. For someone who might not know what exactly that is:

LOL We ate a Jaleo twice during our last trip. Our original plan was once, on 8/3, and we enjoyed it so much that we went back a week later (after checking out at Vero, we drove to Disney Springs for dinner). Both meals were excellent. We did the $100 tasting menu (with the $9 Jamon Iberico add on) on 8/3. DW and DD did the $49 Spanish Sips wine pairing. If you haven't done their tasting menu, it's a great way to experience a bunch of different courses. Also, if you are a Costco member, download the InKind app and buy InKind gift cards at Costco.com. They are $69.99 for a $100 GC. Buy what you think you'll need to cover your bill. The app does not let you include the tip, so you load a credit card into the app. Your InKind balance pays the bill and your cc pays the tip.

You know, I just saw this commercial again, so I have to bring this up one more time because I can't leave it alone. Subaru says: "96% of all Subarus sold in the last ten years are still on the road." Sounds great, right? But I think about it for a second, and I can't help but thinking, "I hope so!" Are they bragging that their cars last ten years?!
Rewind time about 6-8 months, and you could watch wife and I almost buy a 2021 or 2022 Subaru. In the end, didn't want to spend the money. But I still can't get past this concept of what I call "The Subaru Sales Model" which is this: Design and continually produce a car that uses a transmission with a finite life much shorter than it should be, then sell this car with a 10-year powertrain warranty so people don't have to concern themselves with the fact that your transmission will probably poop out on you. Make sure this warranty applies to all used models sold at Subaru dealers and bam.
Oh, I forgot: Make sure your commercials scare people into buying your car because without it, they will die in a car crash. Make sure you show happy parents taking their happy kids to go do happy things; maybe throw in a dog or two. And make sure to tell the audience that without YOUR car, all these happy people will probably no longer be with us.

In 2002 we bought a Hyundai with the 10 year warranty. The warrantor required a drive chain replacement after 7 years, which the warranty did pay, but the car was a mess after that so we got rid of it. Maybe that's what Subaru is referring?
