walt Disney World i 1973. 30 minutes you will not regret.
So much more live entertainment. So much more interaction.
Such great memories. My first trip was 1973 or 74.....

Updated to add the link.
I also watched Epcot 1984 last night.
I wanted to go to Epcot so badly when it opened my Senior year of HS. Sadly did not make it until March 2004

Updated to add the link. I also watched Epcot 1984 last night. I wanted to go to Epcot so badly when it opened my Senior year of HS. Sadly did not make it until March 2004 We were at Epcot in '82, I believe. And I didn't know at the time that that was when it opened. Maybe we went in '83.We were at WDW in the 70s as kids.
So many changes since then. The majority (by a small margin) for the better IMO, but some notable exceptions as well.
Cheers.

Thanks for sharing this video. I very much enjoyed it. Disney did have more entertainment and character interaction in the past (though some of the interaction in this video was likely specifically done for the video - like Goofy on the golf course).
However, I can see from a legal standpoint how spontaneous interaction had to pretty much end - too much risk from a guest and employee standpoint. I'm sure more than one child was accidentally knocked over or a cast member tripped and fell when dancing together. Even a handful of years ago, DL had to end the Jack Sparrow character meet and greets due to inappropriate guest behavior. As for the entertainment, I wish they had a bit more. It doesn't need to be as much as they used to, but somewhere in between would be nice.

I do not necessarily disagree about the closeness of the characters, but man I wish they would bring back the live performance talent enmass'. Especially at Epcot.
I really miss "The Players" that used to do Romeo and Juliet in GB, and The Juggler in France, and Mo'Rockin in Morrocco etc etc....

Coincidentally, we were talking about all of the live entertainment that is gone. Citizens of Hollywood. I could sit on a bench in DHS all day and watch their shows. Romeo and Juliet was hysterical. My favorite was the maintenance crew. They were like watching the Three Stooges/Abbot and Costello. Mulch, Sweat and Shears. World Showcase Players (in Epcot/UK) The British Invasion. The juggler/balancing act in France. Miyuki in Japan. That band in Canada that everyone loved. The acrobats in China. The Main St. USA residents.

Even if each of those didn't "draw a big crowd" like an E-ticket ride, they add to the general atmosphere that helps distinguish Disney from other amusement parks. And when the atmosphere is good, people feel better, spend more, and come back again and again.

Thanks for sharing!
I'd love to see some of the small shows and street entertainment come back at WDW.
But to be fair, I've been lucky on recent trips with character interactions at WDW and UO. Meeting Daisy at Riveria was a fun surprise treat.

Character interactions, I couldn't care less. Entertainment, though, is missed. AFAIK, Jammiters are still there. But not much else.
There is an English rock band in the UK now.
Cheers.

They held crowds with something to do so as not to stand in line which made ride times shorter.

On youtube there's a channel called RetroWDW (they also have a webpage called Lake Buena Vista Historical Society), they take people's 8mm or sometimes 16mm (sometimes with sound, sometimes not) home movies and later video camera stuff and clean them up a bit and put them on there. There's Pleasure Island stuff there, people's movies of going to resorts, old rides like Cranium Command, vintage parades. Good times.
