Yes, wife and I spent 9 days there earlier this month. The drive is an where from 20 minutes without traffic to an hour with traffic. Oahu is densely populated without a real mass transit network, so I would avoid rush hour at all costs. I cannot convey how slowly traffic moved at times. One particular day it took 1 and a half hours to get from Honolulu to Ko' Olina. Sopme eateries I highly recommend. Highway Inn - super authentic and traditional Hawaiian food.
Cinnamons at the 'Ilikai - modern tourist like Hawaiian fare. We did brunch here. Best LocoMoco we had all week. Recommend a youtube video review to see the foods.
Island Glazed - OK, I know this sounds ridiculous, you didn't go to Hawaii for donuts but bear with me here. These are the best donuts I've ever had. My wife and I actually travel to review donut shops (as my Yelp profile will attest) from DC up to Massachusets. It's a thing we do. Check out all the 5 star reviews. Basically serving light and fluffy risen doughnuts with Hawaiian icings like pineapple, ube, passionfruit etc... I know it doesn't belong in this list, but the quality makes them deserving of a place in this list. Also, since people will tell you to go to Leonard's for malasadas, you're in luck because the malasada truck (malasadamobile) is always across the stree. It's basically impossible to get to Pearl Harbor without driving past here. Anytime you head South this place will be nearby. Very conveniently located.
Moani - Japanese - Hawaiian fusion. There's one in Waikiki, and one in the town next to Aulani, 7-8 minutes away.
