Hmmm, what happened to Iger saying they may have been too aggressive in their pricing? Ouch, especially at DL.

This is why I never watch debates or listen to speeches. People lie, stretch the truth, interpret facts, twist statistics, etc to paint the image they want you to see.

This is high level data skimmed off a simple Google search: Annual passes: 2015 (Platinum): $749 2023 (Sorcerer): $999 Increase (%): 33.4 Theme Park Division Labor Costs 2015: $4.58 billion 2023: $6+ billion Increase (%): 31.0+ This is good data because if it costs more to run the place (any place), it needs to cost more to get in. Disney parks, movie theaters, restaurants. I used to get out of the grocery store for well under $100, now I can't hardly get out of there for $120 or $140. Even my Taco Bell costs way more than it did half a dozen years ago.

I'll put this in perspective with a recent quote we got to paint the exterior of our house.
We last painted the house in 2011. Same house, same company, same process, same colors, same everything.
The 2023 price is 102% higher than 2011. Disney data don't seem so bad relative to other commodity purchases.
Cheers.

My preferred exterior paint has gone from like $80/gal a few years back to over $100 after he gave me a discount. It is what it is.

Hmmm, what happened to Iger saying they may have been too aggressive in their pricing? Ouch, especially at DL. Iger stinks. Never liked him - his time has passed - he needs to go. I am tired of the live action remakes, tired of the lack of creativity. I really wish they would return to their creative animation movies. They have killed Star Wars (imo) and Marvel.

When they opened up AP sales again, we thought long and hard about purchasing and decided to hold off. Then they announced park reservations would be removed for date based tickets, but not APs. For once we were happy we didn’t buy the APs. We decided booking 1 bedrooms instead of studios to use our points on a single trip each year, and then vacation elsewhere for our other yearly trip made more sense then two Disney trips a year. Of course date based ticket prices will continue to go up too, but still works out better for us for now.
Prices going up everywhere, definitely getting to be ridiculous. Don’t get me started on my grocery bill 💸

Prices going up everywhere, definitely getting to be ridiculous. Don’t get me started on my grocery bill 💸 That's just it. Prices on everything are going up, including luxury purchases like this. This is not out of line with the rest of the price structure. Consider that the wages and supplies for Disney go up as well. So, duh, prices go up. Like everywhere. None of us complain when we get raises (well, none of y'all who work ), and our companies raise prices. But we complain about paying someone else's price increase. Particularly here.
Cheers.

I don't think particularly here. We are here to talk Disney so we complain about Disney most is all. I see many on social complaining about increases for other things. I also don't see in my house, our raises covering the other increases. In fact, due to the tanking industry I do predominantly all my work for, I'm taking a massive pay cut again - and more than just a small reduction. I may start freelancing to cover my big reduction. I do side jobs now and then but I may have to consider doing more. So no, no raises here to even talk about. Which is probably why here (talking Disney) I'll go on about increases. They're not matching what I see at home either.

I suspect we will cut back on some things next year. If everyone does the same, a recession can’t be far behind and then we will finally see some inflation relief and discounts from the Mouse.

Let's be real, we've been in and out of recession-like quarters since covid. Many people I know did not recover the way others did. Those who had to find new housing are getting hosed now and have been for a few years. I am lucky in that all my paycheck goes to non-essentials. I intentionally do part time work to cover things with our community and schools that I can help with. Spouse got a raise but not a COL cover. It's fine, we're fine, but I will be scrutinizing more of what we do at Disney with some of the increases. The food increases weren't too bad, but some of the other stuff combined with APs still having to do park reservations has me a bit more grumpy about Disney stuff.

Fair points both helenabear and a1000monkeys. The business I was in was softening when I retired as well. But folks who at Disney, who were woefully underpaid, did get raises. And the goods, as we all know, cost more, So, I guess I should say that none of us complain about raises (when they happen) even if the good from our company cost more to others. And this would seem to have actually happened at Disney. Not that they're above adding a little extra on top, of course But it is, in the end, a luxury expenditure. As it is, we go to happy hours and don't do the expensive ADRs, because the APs are higher and airfare ain't cheap.Sp, we save in the other areas. Cheers.
