Thank you for being my weather reporters. I am starting to WARM UP to the idea of going to Alaska in the summer. Any ideas about the Bliss or Encore.

Thank you for being my weather reporters. I am starting to WARM UP to the idea of going to Alaska in the summer. Any ideas about the Bliss or Encore. We sailed the Encore in May, over Memorial Day weekend this year. On our sailing, we found the weather pleasant. Most days the temps were in the mid 60's to 70. We wore layers, did bother jackets.
There are quite a few MO members that sailed the Encore the year.
If you are going to sail Alaska, I suggest you pick your itinerary based on what you want to see and do. Once you have that, then pick your ship that will take you there. For us, our #1 must do was sail Glacier Bay on our Alaska cruise. We also wanted to leave Seattle, but realistically Vancouver is almost as close. For some people, the cost is the over riding factor of what cruise line they are on. Robin has lots of clients that will only sail Disney, so that makes the choices really easy.
We choose NCL Encore over the other Glacier Bay sailings because the ship was new and had lots of great amenities for us. Because we wanted a Haven Cabin which gave us lots of extra perks, including first off the ship in every port.
Time of year is a big factor to consider too. We went May because there is still lots of snow and ice, and the price is much cheaper then the summer months. The downside to an early cruise is its colder and the salmon were not running yet (which we want to see on the next time we go back).

we never do get that trip report!! Would love to hear about it…. If I ever get downtime, I might pull something together. Life is so busy between the boys, home, travel, work and Halloween prep.

Think you've still got another half of Italy to go, too. And I've got half of that baker's dozen insanity, ha. Not to mention all of our various adventures since. Take your time...

Thank you for being my weather reporters. I am starting to WARM UP to the idea of going to Alaska in the summer. Any ideas about the Bliss or Encore. I agree with tomandrobin. We also chose NCL because we wanted to sail Glacier Bay, then chose the Encore based on dates and pricing. There are some YouTube videos out there that discuss Bliss vs Encore for sailing AK so maybe check that out to help you decide.
