One thing to be aware of is that once you upgrade you might need to rebook your park reservations for the remaining days. I mention this because there are some dates in December that are currently “sold out” for all resort guests at one or more parks. A CM should be able to switch your existing ones over, but you might need to escalate it and get someone with more authority. Good point. And I would amend this to say that you will need to rebook as they're tied to the tickets. So definitely do this at the time of bridging for the reasons nickys mentions.
Cheers.

On which note I will point out that MK is completely sold out now for Christmas Day, for all categories of guests. And I think NYE at MK is also sold out for some guests.
That could yet change though, they do sometimes add capacity nearer the time.

Neither. If a partially used pass, it will be for first day of use of the day tickets (unless lucky). There is no reason to wait until the last day. Actually there is: The final two days of our trip are AP blackout days so using an AP for the entire trip isn't possible. Unfortunately I was informed by DVC Member Services yesterday that they also won't allow you to bridge to an AP if the day you attempt to do it is an AP blackout day. The day in question for me is 12/22, which is an AP blackout day so it looks like I'm hosed.

Yes, blackout days totally hose things up. So sorry 😞

I'll be stopping by to request the AP bridge literally as we are leaving the park for the day on our final day, so it's not like I'll be attempting to re-enter under the AP I leave. Maybe their system simply won't allow them to process the bridge transaction? I figure I have nothing to lose by asking in person.

Most to try to bridge on their last day after they have entered a park do usually have good luck. However it's one of those things that I personally would avoid if I could because of legit reports about people not being able to bridge on their last day. But with blackout days I understand everything is totally different anyway. I agree that there is nothing wrong with trying though.

Not sure where you're planning to visit, but I've found the Guest Services folks at International Gateway to be excellent. If there is a way for them to manually work around this in a situation like yours, I would trust them to be able to find it.
Cheers.

I'll be exiting AK and visiting Guests Services there.

I didn’t try due to our plans changing and us deciding against doing the AP’s for now.

Does anyone have any recent experiences with bridging a UT ticket to an AP renewal over the phone? I have my experience from above that did work but was somewhat painful. I'd like to be able to do this in advance so that I can make some park reservations earlier (really doesn't matter that much since park reservations are generally so easily available that they can be done day of, but just more convenient in advance).'
I'd rather do this on the phone with someone familiar with the process. Based on experiences, best to call DVC member services to start, or someone else?
Our APs expire Sept. 22, so we still have some time before renewing.
Cheers.

Hi everyone!
I'm looking for help/advice/confirmation on bridging tickets. I've never bridged tickets and am nervous about it. My preference is to do it in advance (so, over the phone - that's possible, right?), rather than in person because APs still require park reservations, and I'd like to have that all set prior to arrival. Here's my situation, and also my questions:
My DD's employer participates in an online benefit program where one of the available discounts is for WDW tickets. Not APs, but date-based tickets (with or without hoppers). The savings are pretty good. At last check, it was about $775 (including tax) for a 10-day hopper, which appears to be about $150 savings over gate price for our travel period. So, I'm thinking of trying to bridge to new APs, to essentially apply that savings to an AP. [So far so good, right? This is what bridging is and why people do it, right?] She has purchased date-based tickets for my mother and I previously, and we had no problems with that and linking to MDE, etc., so I feel reasonably confident about this first part of things.
What do I need to know about how the bridging process works? Here's what I think happens:
First, I purchase the 10-day date-based hoppers and link them to the appropriate people in MDE. Then, I call DVC member services to request an upgrade of those tickets to Sorcerer AP -- this can be done over the phone, right? (and, no way to do it myself online to get the Sorcerer Pass -- need to talk to someone, yes?) They take my cc over the phone and do the upgrade in real time - yes? My understanding is that Disney sees the ticket in my MDE and credits me the value of a Disney-purchased 10-day park hopper pass toward the AP. Do they calculate that based on the current value of a Disney-purchased ticket, or the value of a Disney-purchased ticket on the day my DD buys them for me? I want to know what number they will be using before I call so that I know what the numbers should be. I suppose I could call to upgrade them immediately (before Disney would be likely to change prices), but in case I don't, does anyone know this? Could I do this upgrade transaction for one or two (or five!?) date-based-tickets-to-APs in the same call? Lastly, to confirm: these new APs wouldn't be activated until our arrival, right (they don't become activated at the time of the upgrade for any reason, do they?)?
Anything I'm misunderstanding or forgetting or should otherwise know in advance?
THANKS!!

Yes, what you have said is the way it work, although I can't be 100% sure about these particular tickets as a base since I've only ever used UT tickets. I see no reason that they shouldn't work, though.
As long as the gate price of the ticket is less than the AP, this will work. As for the credit value you should receive, just go to the WDW ticket site and model the ticket with them and that should be the value. I've always done it immediately, so I don't know what price they may use if done some time later.
You may need to advise them that they should be doing this (one time I had to tell them about it to get it done and the other time it just happened). But it can be done with the ticket folks on the phone.
And, if this is not a renewal, then I believe it will not activate until you first use it.
Cheers.
