We got back 2 weeks ago from a RCCL cruise out of Seattle to Alaska on the Quantum of the Seas. It was a fantastic trip. We (4 of us) flew from MIA to Seattle, and when we finally arrived at 2AM local time (ugh!), we stayed at the Marriott Waterfront for 2 days prior to our cruise. Great hotel, great food option as well.
The itinerary we had was great….I am probably messing this up somehow. Sitka, Junea, icy straight point - Hoonah (glacier). , Victoria, BC. We did 2 different whale watching excursions (saw tons of whales - it was non stop on one of the excursions, maybe 60 sightings, tails, blow holes, we saw a humpbacks face it was that close to the boat, baby humpback trying to breach, saw a whale poop [crazy - lol]), bald eagle rehab facility, bear facility, gold panning (yes, we all found gold flakes - it was so much fun!). Bear in mind our little boys, are 9 and 6 years old so we were limited in excursions.
When we got back we were going to do the space needle and the Chihuly museum, but due to timing of the red eye flight back, we decided to to dayuse.com and book a hotel for the day. We ended up at the Seattle Renaissance hotel, and it was one of the best things we did. Please bear in mind that with the hotels, I am a Titanium member so we got “perks” at both hotels. The Renaissance was a surprise as we booked thru a third party but they treated us the same.
Great cruise, the plane travel back and forth was tough. For the kids, It took about a week to get back to normal sleep schedules. For us shorter…and I even got to bring home Covid for myself as a gift that I didn’t want. Thankfully 5 days and negative test after, and it was only me that tested positive. Isolation over July 4th weekend was NOT how I wanted to spend the time, we ended up cancelling a DVC stay because of it. ..oh well.

Our check-in time is 11-11:30am. Does anyone know if that is when we should show up or if showing up a little earlier will help us at all?

We got the “We’re reviewing your upgrade” email which is usually the final nail in the coffin for upgrades. What’s funny is that as it got closer, the less I wanted it because I’m tired of spending money on this cruise. They’re already so pricey that it was fun to bid back when, but it’s become almost a game chicken to see if they’d deny first or I’d cancel upgrade bids first. Now, I can rest easy knowing we’re not going to spend more money. I’m really excited about this cruise. I can’t wait!!!

I saw something that said don’t arrive more than 1 hour before your time. That would be 10am for us. Thoughts on that?

I feel they do this for crowd management. Worse comes to worse you are on the line waiting…I think they understand you have nowhere else to go. They probably are trying to get everyone off the boat, and have time to clean everything.

Go early!! Lines will start forming outside of the terminal. I saw something that said don’t arrive more than 1 hour before your time. That would be 10am for us. Thoughts on that? We stayed one night pre-cruise which had a shuttle to the terminal. It didn’t take us over until 11:00a. We were let off on the public sidewalk that led up to the terminal. Everyone lined up there, and many busses let off there as well. The line moved slowly but we weren’t more than an hour getting into the terminal. I don’t know what the earliest time is to get in, but knowing what I know now, get in line by 8:30a to get checked in by 10:00a. That’s a good gauge. I agree, the times assigned are for crowd control. No one cared what our boarding time was, especially when we had to get there at whatever time the hotel shuttle decided to get us there.
