I'm wondering if Uber/Lyft is a workaround for the gate/security guard issues. Definitely a workaround. We do it all the time with no rental car. Many reports on other boards of Uber/Lyft not being allowed to drop off at Contemporary without a reservation. |

I've taken uber/lyft into OKW and had to have them scan my band from the backseat. So I don't think we can say with certainty that it will get you in.
There is one way that will always work, though - take the bus there from a park or Springs, no problems.
I understand this is not helpful for everyone. But we often leave a park and say "want to eat at blanky-blank". But then you have to catch their bus to Springs or something when you want to go home.

I would agree it depends who you have at the gate. One way they let you through is if you mobile order and show your mobile order is prepping/ready. At least we've had success with this. Not just who's at the gate, but also, how busy they are at the gate. We were in a line of cars to get into either POR or POFQ (I forget which). Meanwhile the guard appeared to be giving the third degree to everyone. We were about to give up and leave (just wanted QS) when she looked up, saw the long line, and started letting everyone through with barely a glance. So we ate QS at POR and PORQ with no problem. I'd remind you that Primo Piatto takes Mobile Order, but I read of someone who'd MO'd-I think at Contemporary, which you prepay for, then wasn't let in. I don't know if they ever got their money back. I remember we used to love AKL's QS, but now we can't go there. Such a pain! |

Yeah the Contemporary needs to have pretty high security due to it being such close walking distance to MK. People either trying to skip on parking fees or (in the case of uber/lyft) trying to beat the rope drop crowd will often attempt to get into there. |

"We're meeting friends at Contempo Cafe for breakfast..." used to work. Not any longer from what I've read. |

It may have depended on the gate guard. Most let us in unless it is high peak holiday time.

First thing in the morning, BC, YC and BW will turn away Ubers and Lyfts unless the passenger has an ADR. Same can be true at the Contemporary. |

I wish disney had some sort of short term parking for quick service There's short term parking (30 minutes or so) for people checking in. Just use that. Nobody's going to know you're picking up quick service. Sue/WDW1972 |

Odd, when staying onsite, I've never had an issue at any resort including RIV or BLT. I scan my magic band and tell the guard I'm visiting to shop/dine (no TS ressie). They sometimes look at my ID, but that's it. George just lucky, I guess.
P.S. I don't stay at WDW during peak times.

We were going to try to mobile order then was unsure if they allow a car in for mobile order:( I've heard of cars being turned away at the Contemporary even tho they'd mobile ordered. And since, to the best of my knowledge, you have to pay when you place a mobile order, if your turned away at the gate, you lose the money you spent on the meal too. We were lucky enough to get into POR and POFQ to eat at their QS last year. POFQ let people in with no problem. At POR, the first time we went, it changed minute to minute. When we first got there, there was a line at the guard shack because the guard was interrogating everyone very carefully and spending several minutes per car. After doing this with a few cars, he looked up and the line was getting much longer. Fortunately, that's when he decided to just ask a couple quick questions and in we went. I HATE this policy-I understand it, but I hate it. We had a 10 day stay at OKW, didn't know about grocery delivery nor did we consider taking the boat to DS (very ill-prepared). Has anyone gotten in to SSR for QS? |

We were staying at AKL last month & wanted to buy banana bread at RIV and guard would not let us in. Seems like they have been really strict at RIV.
