Yes Apparently Disney just terminated the one female that saved Toy Story 2 … that had almost accidentally been erased , but she had saved the story on her computer …. I just overheard this conversation …have not verified the validity Yet … Sorry I’m on vacation … And I love Disney but weary and frazzled from being tested everyday .

And so with the cuts, goes the content. It will be years before Disney can recoup these losses.

The last Toy Story barely made a minimum profit. They were lucky they broke even. That’s how the world works, even in the creative world. If you screw up, dry up and can’t produce, you are gone. As far as her being the ‘one female’ that makes no difference what she was. It makes no difference if it was a female or male. The real world, you work, compete and it really doesn’t matter what sex you are. Can’t scream I’m equal and then rely on the old, it’s because I’m female, boo hoo. Btw, I’m female. The last Toy Story was a box office bomb, guess the majority didn’t need messages sent to them and just wanted a Disney movie. What one did years ago, really doesn’t matter. She didn’t bring in the $$ and just like pixy dust…. Poof you are gone. And that folks is how the corporate world works, especially when one’s stock is in a dive.

Oh....Their various movie divisions have been suffering from creativity loss for a few years now. The latest blow to their creative loss was Gunn going over to DCU.

And that folks is how the corporate world works, especially when one’s stock is in a dive. I read a very interesting article earlier in the week, that laid out all the things that Disney has been doing wrong the past 4-5 years. Those decisions are coming back to hurt them hard and its reflected in their stock price. As I have mentioned several times recently, the Movie Division is a train wreck. Disney+ continues to bleed Billions of dollars. Management is in turmoil, with too much turnover and corporate regime changes. Disney debt is bad and is only getting worse.....just wait til the Hulu bill comes due next year. There are only two money making segments......Parks and ESPN. The rumors of Apple buying Disney make some sense. But if it happened, Apple wouldn't keep the Park Division.....the Parks don't fit, but all the content stuff would. Anyway.....This is a lot of soapbox for a Pixar layoff thread.

Anyway.....This is a lot of soapbox for a Pixar layoff thread. It may be soapbox, but it is interesting soapbox, and it is not inherently partisan. I want to offer one point of possible contrarian perspective on the debt issue. I was interested to see on my broker's website today that this week on June 5th the S&P rating folks upgraded Disney bonds from BBB+ to A-. (For those not familiar with bond ratings, BBB- and above generally represents a so-called "investment grade" bond; not "junk.") Consistently, Disney bonds are also variously A1 (the so-called "Sleeping Beauties") or A2 at Moody's. Of course, the downside of the S&P upgrade is that some could see it as making the company more attractive for acquisition. I also feel that bond raters must care about general credit-worthiness more than customer satisfaction per se, and not much at all about historical tradition.

Realistically Apple is a great fit for acquisition of Disney when you consider how Disney+ and all of Disney's production capability could roll under AppleTV/Content and inherently add value there immediately. I see that as a 1+1=3. If you look at the partnership of Disney and Apple on the new Goggles you see where Disney IP (and the parks by extension) could be another area.
We keep talking about a "5th Gate" but what is a Disney/Apple Collobration created a "Virtual" 5th Gate that could be accessed at home making a "park visit" able to occur daily. Follow on products could be Chairs that move with the motion of the virtual world ride through the goggles (Any of you guys familiar with the online Auto Racing. I have buddies that have invested over $20K in computers, monitors, and motion actuators for their "cockpit" of their car and they race competitively.
There is an alley here.

Realistically Apple is a great fit for acquisition of Disney... p.s. Android phones would somehow never work onsite
Cheers.
