Did somebody say there are free points?
lol
One of my contracts is December. Haven't had a problem yet, but who knows.
As far as keeping track and the confusion of "Dec23 points being used most of 24" or whatever, once you realize that the whole "calendar" that we use is just arbitrary and superimposed on the world around on, it's no big deal...we only make it a problem because we think, "The year starts on January 1"...The year could just as easily start on July 1. Or December 1. In which case, having a December UY would be lemon-squeezy
That said, I've been confused with my December points, too! But they work just fine.

All of our contracts are December use year…never a problem. No interest in navigating multiple use years though.

We’ve had multiple UY in the past: February, April, September and December. I never really had an issue with the UY other than remembering the banking dates. That was EASY - set up a calendar reminder mid month for perpetuity! IF you title the property the same then you have only one real membership sign on where you can see all of the points and properties in the login. 2 different membership cards though.
When we moved to Florida we sold all but the September UY as it’s Wilderness Lodge.
I’ve even used from the multiple UY to book a single trip. Found that transferring wasn’t really needed as we rarely booked at 11 months - unless we went over Christmas break when the kids were younger. You would have to wait until the 7 month period to book those points at BRV BUT what you could do is book at the poly with those points and make it a split stay. We’ve hopped around a lot before Covid when rooms would be ready long before 4 - it seems that now you’re lucky if your room is ready by bed time!!!
Good luck with whatever you choose to do but it’s not as hard as you’d think.

This is exactly us. Only two UY, but no issues at all. It's never come up.
I can't believe that I had never set up the in-perpetuity banking reminder for these until earlier this morning. No-brainer.
Cheers.

I’ll have to have two apple Allen’s one with my “y” and one without ( or whatever it’s for resales). Split stay s are something we have tried to avoid, but now I’m retired I could schedule longer split stays. Is in perpetuity available for Apple calendar? Thank you!!!

I have contracts under three memberships. And I only use one login. One membership was a resale purchase after 2017 so it's not entitled to any benefits. The other two are qualified.
One membership is December use year. The other two are October. I kind of messed up on my resale. Even though it was October and was meant to be in the same membership, I needed to remove my dad from the contract after he passed away in 2018. So they had 2 names on them while resale only had mine.
I put in a calendar reminder every year when to bank. The banking deadlines are not an issue for me. What is an issue is having points for The same resort in two different memberships. Remember you're only allowed to transfer in and out one time a year. So every time I transfer points from one membership to another, that shuts down my ability to transfer for the year. And I have two resorts that are doing that. It's very annoying.
If you tried to book a stay with different points, they won't be connected with each other. So most likely you'll end up having to move even though you're at the same resort. Again annoying.
You just have to have him your mind that you use here begins that month of the current year. So for instance my December 2023 points begin December 1st this year.
Actually I find October harder to remember.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe when you transfer points into your own memberships, there is no limit.

We decided we’d rather buy direct than get a December use year. But October is just as hard to remember as December is

The only caveat I have for our December UY is that October vacation can never be cancelled. LOL
Really, if I had a brain, I would've chosen a different UY for the BC contracts and then that October vacation would never be an issue.

I have four use years, and honestly it really doesn't bother me. I will probably add my kids names onto one or two of them to my kids in the near future. I don't think use year really matters. the only thing with december use year is if you do most of your traveling in august-november because you will miss your banking window if plans change.

I also have a December use year and have no problems with it. We travel mostly in the spring, but have traveled during almost every month. Banking is in July, and Sept/Oct is great to use up soon to be expiring points. November would be cutting it pretty close.

We have a December Use Year on our contracts and to date this has not been a problem. But if we had contracts with different Use Years it might become a problem. I have a friend who has four contracts with three different Use Years and he told me that he is able to navigate any problems the different Use Years might create.

I have 5 different UY's (yes, crazy, I know). I actually really like having a Dec UY, but it all depends on when you travel, as others have said. For me, I rarely transfer points between my different memberships because it does become challenging to keep it all straight at that point. There are some advantages to having multiple UY. For instance, if you travel at different times of year, you can use points in such a way that f you have to cancel, you have more time to reuse the points. Also, if you have 2 different membership numbers (UY), you get one transfer per year for each membership (UY).

One of my UYs is December. I don't have an issue with it.
