I missed seeing John Wick... Saw GotG 3 just to make sure I didn't get anything spoiled. It was great too on the big screen. Same....Same....
The last three movies I have seen at the theater.....GoG3, Super Mario and Shazam. The Shazam movie was not my choice, the grands wanted to see it. I really like the John Wick movies, but missed this one because of too many conflicts and no free time.
I "might" go see Indiana Jones....Its released right as I am heading into my summer vacation period.

Loved Encanto. It just came out when movies were not on my radar to see in public at all. So nothing against it, but I just was meh on movie theaters at the time. If it had been earlier or later, I would've gone to see it. So maybe it's just bad luck for it all with that one with me. I have read decent on Elemental so I will watch but not rush to see. I haven't seen Strange World yet either. Pixar was talking about Toy Story 5. I'm like you need to apologize for TS4 first. Lightyear was cute but not the same anyway. TS4 was honestly horrible.
Encanto was "ok"....I didn't hate it, I didn't love it. It certainly wasn't the worse movie I have seen.
Lightyear I watched with the kids on Disney+......three thumbs down (me and the grands). There is just nothing to grab on to in the movie.
Strange World is not on my radar to watch, but will watch it with the grandsons if they want to watch it.
Encanto gets replay time by Grandson #2, so if it gets watched repeatedly then its ranks as an overall winner in my house.
Surprisingly, the boys have been going back to rewatching Monsters Inc and Incredibles movies lately.

Loved Encanto really. The music. The story. It resonated here. Lightyear sold me with the cat. Seriously the cat - too much of a cat lover. I expected to hate it though so going into a movie with low expectations help. I'm typing this as a cat is above my head purring and demanding me to pet her now and then. I'm a cat sucker LOL

Two weeks in and Elemental is going to be a big loss.
Total Box Office is $121 Million and needs at least $330-$380 million more to hit that profit zone. The international markets still have some to open, like UK, Brazil and Japan. But these won't save it.
Fingers crossed for Indy next weekend when it opens. Early reviews are mixed. I think nostalgia will play a big roll for a decent showing.

I just wanted to chime in to say my entire family *really* liked Elemental. I won't say loved, but it was much, much better than I anticipated going in.
To me, a major problem Disney has right now is that so many of its films seem the same, at least from the trailers. As mentioned above, 'Elemental' looked a lot like 'Inside Out'. It's another one-word title (did you realize that Pixar has only ever released *two* films with titles longer than two words, not counting numeric sequels? And in both of those the extra word was an article (A bug's life, THE good dinosaur).
There's a lot of 'oh, we're doing this again, okay' in the Pixar offerings now. Couple that with the knowledge that it'll be on Disney+ eventually and there's no urgency to get to the theater.

Disney's issue in its Movie and Animation department right now is they are truly lacking orginal thought. The Number of Remakes and II, III, IV films is simply a rework. Taking an old move and adding diversity does not generate new audiences, and in fact alienates those that liked the original. Marvel had multiple characters so was able to continue the gravy train for a while but can anyone argue that Thor Love & Thunder was good? What about the latest AntMan...just so much rehash.
There is so much out there that Disney could be doing with original scripts to further diversity that is also good storytelling. Hidden Figures was AMAZING! I would love to see a movie on Robert Smalls or Ronald McNair. Both would likely be both entertaining and inspiring.
But, Disney does not seem to have current content creators capable of creating new ideas in new IP, just using old IP or old idea in new IP

Taking an old move and adding diversity does not generate new audiences What a seriously tone-deaf comment from a middle-aged white guy. It may not generate anything for you, but there is a huge segment of the population that appreciates it and is inspired by it.
