AP PTSD caused me to renew last year even though we hardly used it this year & ditto 23-24. The struggle is real.

Do you think they will be limiting how many DVC APs are sold starting the 13th? I’m trying to figure out timing. It would work better for us if we could wait until the 15th to get the voucher. I also don’t want to wait and have the pre-sale sold out. I was so excited when I saw the email yesterday! We didn’t buy them in 2021 thinking they would remain on sale. 🤦♀️ This is the $50,000 question. They have created an enormous amount of paranoia the last couple of years regarding APs so what to do? My daughter being a new DVC member wants to buy an AP and most likely will but she has no immediate plans for a trip. At least she will have a year to activate the pass. Other daughter was planning to renew her son’s AP on the 13th but when she realized what a sh*t show that day will be she called and did it yesterday. Yes! Paranoia indeed! We plan to travel April 2024 but would have to move up our trip a couple days so I can activate the voucher before the year is up. I totally get your daughter’s wanting to buy the AP since you just don’t know!

It’s all about FOMO!!!! Just like in real estate to create a frenzy they put on the sales sign “ Coming soon!”

I LOVE the "AP PTSD" label...can I borrow it?
My AP never lapsed, but for two years now I've gone thru the tortures of the damned in August-Sept worrying about whether they'll let me renew when my window opened in October....AP PTSD indeed!
I'm going to try to add my DS and DDIL to my contract so that they're owners, too (it's a blue card contract) so they can buy Sorcerer's passes....no idea how long that transaction typically takes (guess I'll find out when I call to do it Monday)...so I may be "sweating out" the time the new AP availability lasts, too...I'll be surprised if I call on 4/10 and it's "done" by 4/13, so we'll have a time frame during which we're worrying about whether DS and DDIL can buy sorcerer's passes, too...wish us luck!

FWIW since general sales of the AP are not open until April 20th, I don't think DVC members are going to have any problems getting a sorcerer pass from April 13th to the 19th. In other words it will be easier to get an AP than it is to get a VQ for Tron.
AP PTSD Is something my family went through last October. My brother's past expired October 31st. He wanted to let it lapse and just get a new one before March trip but I knew they wouldn't start selling them again. So he took it to the very last day of his 30-day window. I wouldn't mind resetting my start date too. As it is it's in the middle of October. I wish it began the beginning of March. Then I would get three trips in a calendar year. As of now I get two and a half. The half one I have to renew in the middle of the trip.

Timing stinks for us. We just got back this week. We have never had annual passes. Excited as it will incentivize us to go more often!

I was thinking about adding my DD to my VGF contract for the same reason. I wonder how long it would take?

It seemed to take longer than it should but there were a few complications but once the paperwork was signed by all parties it happened really quick. In fact we just got the copies from our lawyer yesterday and earlier in the week our kids had already been notified by DVC Administration that they had ID numbers and they were in. Youngest has been a DVC member for as long as we have and our contracts are already on her dashboard, the other 2 had to set up theirs. Our complications included the fact that we had an existing reservation that was booked at 7 months with 2 contracts so we had to wait until that was completed so be aware of that. It took awhile to proceed.

Question for the thread.
Doesn’t adding kids to contracts impact current DVC reservations? {Question answered above my post} This is the ultimate reason for full stop with us. We have reservations all over the place since we live in FL now.
We started this process in early January and stopped. Member administration wasn’t working in the office at the time and it was difficult to contact them and I’m not sure you can by phone even now. I have no idea. The company that was suggested to us sent me the info and it was self-service on-line and we paid a fee. Seemed odd to me, but maybe that’s the way it’s been for awhile. We hit a question and didn’t know how to answer so we contacted our lawyer and he advised us not to do it. So, we stopped.

We were able to start the process after the trip with combined points. We had 2 more trips to come but those were booked with single contracts. In fact we took a 3rd impromptu trip in February and it was after that when things started moving.
Make sure the lawyers know what your plans are. Just in case.

We could never talk with a real person when we were sent the info. It was very frustrating, but we stopped anyway.

Yes because I do believe if you are just changing the name on the deeds, it might still need to go thru a type of ROFR ( formality only). I could be wrong, but I do think it could effect the current reservations as the membership ID names would be different.

What was the cost to add your children if you don’t mind sharing that information.

I am not sure what our local lawyer is charging us for facilitating it but we went through him for peace of mind. Probably expensive peace of mind. You may be able to go directly with the FL people. If your reservation is booked on 1 contract alone there may not be a problem. Also want to add that the price DVC gave me to do this through them was $450 per contract. Coming back to report the mail came and total was $775. Not bad.

Good to see some of this discussion about adding kids as owners. I'm very tempted to get both our adult kids on the BCV contracts we have. I only have 2 (primary and add-on). But good to see some of the roadblocks that might exist if we choose to do this.
