All over social media the last few days, a step by step "tutorial" on how to make platform sneakers for your not yet tall enough to meet the 38" height requirement child. I'm not positing a link because I don't want this family to get any clicks.

Ugh that is frustrating...as a pediatric nurse it is just like people who let their very young children sit in the front seat of a car. It is about safety.....

This isn't new. It's been around since... well likely before I had my kid. Lots of work arounds which I think is stupid and unsafe.

There is a reason for the height requirement...........what are the adults thinking (wanted to insert an emoji/do we have any?) No biggie.

I have to admit to being an offender. Our youngest was in the 15% growth percentile so she'd be watching her peers enjoying rides she could not. In the 90's the platform sneakers were the norm and then I'd do her hair in the top ponytail. I think it worked on one ride. We did it more to be compassionate to her circumstance than to circumvent safety standards. EOD, we've never been big ride commando's and most of the rides we enjoy she could enter. I have often wondered if that is why she's not big on the parks (she lost interest early).

Another offender here to my youngest had one trip where he was just shy of the height requirements- back in the day wheelies were how we got him through...now we have the opposite problem he is over 6'3 and well rides like 7DMT, SDD, and FOP he doesn't have the leg room to fit...

By using methods to "beat" the height requirement you are also assuming responsibility if something were to happen. CMs have seen it all, If they really have an issue they'll ask them to remove their shoes or measure to the side of their hair.

By using methods to "beat" the height requirement you are also assuming responsibility if something were to happen. But that's not really true. The same people who try to scam the system will be the ones to sue should something happened and blame Disney for allowing the kid to get on. Not specifically referring to anyone here (and, honestly, I can't say that any of us know how we'd react if something like happened), but we know it's true, in general.
Folks ain't gonna say "my bad" when shit hits the fan.
Cheers.

After more than 2 decades working closely with people when the shit hits the fan, I totally agree.

Me, personally, I hate the phrase "My bad." People seem to think it's a "Get out of jail free" card.

Well, then, it's a good thing that these people won't say it when things go pear-shaped.
But, what I really meant, is that they won't take responsibility for their actions and look for someone else to blame.
Cheers.
