I have a stupid problem.
Back in February, I made a reservation for my parents at fort wilderness. I put it in my name, because that popped up and I didn’t expect my parents to decide they wanted to come. (Expensive, other things, reasons). So when I finally brought it up to them, they surprised the snot out of me when they said yes! But now I have a problem. My name is the primary on that reservation and I can’t seem to change it. So I called, apparently you can’t change it. And I’m not staying at the fort, we’re staying at VGF.
Any ideas on what I can do? Call back? Would member services be able to get me out? Would the AP line be able to help? It never occurred to me that this would be an issue, I’ve never modified a regular hotel reservation before.

Call back! I’ve made reservations for when I rented. The reservation is always in the DVC owners name but guests are different. When it’s been a tough reservation and I in the miniority prefers MS to online but I will secure the reservation after hours or just to grab it. Then go and add names but there are times you can’t. Do call get someone else that knows how to fix it.

I've been able to make changes to primary guest but I had to call, but I have never changed guest names on a non-DVC stay. I have read that in the past you couldn't change it but not sure now. Is it linked to your account?

I’ve done this with regular resort reservations, but I’m sure you need the right CM.
I honestly don’t know as it would matter either unless you get charged for extra adults in the room and with a regular reservation that does happen.
Ask for a supervisor when you call the regular reservation line and using the AP line might help.

I never add it right away. It just boggles my mind that I can’t make changes. Googling suggests they have locked down what you can change for a fort wilderness reservation.

I'd still try calling again but googling was giving me similar answers. Ask to speak to someone and see what to do. Or see if they can change it at check in at least? Good luck!

DrMinnie You need to get the reservation out of my Disney experience. Once that reservation is released, you should be able to change the name of the primary guest. I had to do this once when I changed the names on my DVC reservation to a renter. You will have to call to get a cast member to get it out of your MDE.

So I’m home sick with a cold, so it was perfect to sit on the phone with castmembers this morning! I started by calling member services, but they couldn’t actually do anything. But they gave me a phone number to call. I have no idea if depending on which phone number you call you get a different experience. But a few things were the case. 1. The profile I booked it under was corrupted, so they had to do something anyway. But 2. I had made a resort only reservation. If it had been a “package”, that would have made my experience different. 3. They did send me over to the side of the house where they can actually mess with the databases, and they got me off of that reservation. I had to call my dad to get him to make an account real fast so they could put him there instead. But it worked. I’ll come up with a different way to do it in the future, I’m not sure what the best plan would be. I think starting out with my crazy story instead of asking them to fix specific thing helped. But maybe it also helped to get the right CM. I now cannot imagine not being DVC members and having to go through that non-sense on the regular. Wow.

Dealing with regular reservations can be a daunting experience. Sounds similar to what I had to do, but no corrupted profile and DD already had an account.

I think that availability opens at 8AM EDT/EST, correct? We are looking at doing a 7-month resort change and I want to make sure that I'm there at the beginning. if so, this is 5AM for me, but so be it Cheers.

Won’t lie, just too lazy to search. When do we make room requests, and what is the most effective route for this? I’ve always just done the Touring Plans room request, but that one failed me last time. Will be at WL in November, and I need to be AWAY from the smoking area. Cigarette smoke triggers Tim’s migraines, and we were unable to use our balcony on the last trip. TIA!
