The murphy is replacing the sleep sofa. The sleep chair was in addition to the sleep sofa. The Murphy wall bed is replacing the sofa. But the sleeper chair is being replaced by the red pull down bed under red the TV. I’ve not seen any reports of a 6ft adult even trying to sleep on that. The sleeper chair was more comfy than the sofa bed according to my youngest, he chose the chai when given a choice. An adult on an air bed for more than a couple of nights isn’t much fun. I have in Polynesian groups. 5'11-6'1" adults. They were fine as long as they could sleep kind of curled. The mattress was measured 2 inches shorter than the sleeper chairs. The sleeper chairs are 75" long and they measured 73" for PVB. Both 30" wide. Comments I saw were the murphy was superior to the chair. We hated those chairs so I could believe it is better.

If the pull down bed under the TV is like the one at the Riviera, they won't be able to sleep comfortably on it. My 5 foot 5 inch daughter tried it one night and said it was extremely uncomfortable.

Since then I’ve seen screenshots of more photos showing that the sleeper chair has been replaced with the twin pull-down Murphy bed. I am now livid. That sleeper chair meant that a 1-bed at BLT (our home resort), Kidani and OKW would sleep our family of 4 adults. And although we spoilt ourselves last time with a 2-bed, we can’t do that for an entire stay. I think this might just be the end of the road for us and DVC. We’d have to combine a points stay with a cash stay, which is just cost prohibitive for 2 rooms onsite. The only viable solution for us is if OKW keep the sleeper chairs. I don’t see Kidani keeping them after the next refurb. Having stayed in one beds at BLT with the couch sleeper and sleeper chair and VGF with the couch murphy bed and murphy under the tv, the latter is far superior. Those Disney sleeper couches are awful. Murphy bed is a real mattress. Not only that, you just fold it up quick and easy when you want couch mode without having to worry about the covers being perfect to get it to squeeze in. Yeah, the tv bed may be a bit short, but it wasn't that special. The pull down murphy bed again is a real mattress that can quickly get folded up out of the way without much drama. I'm not sure a 6ft individual could fit on either the chair or tv bed. It would probably be easier to jerry-rig the tv bed...take the mattress of the platform and use the couch cushions to lengthen part or something...

I didn’t defend the sofa beds! And my son has slept on the sleeper chairs at BLT, Kidani and OKW. So far in this thread helenabear has reported of a tall adult sleeping on the under-TV bed at PVB and PirateLinda has said the Riviera one is a no-go. Personally I feel an adult on the floor, be it an air mattress or other, is fine for a couple of days. Not for a week though. I’m sure the TV beds are better for many. I’m just not convinced that the new ones are suitable for an adult. Which is a problem for us.

I am starting to agree with Nicky’s … DVC has never been a comfortable design for me. In all my travel, I have stayed at some resorts that make me wish DVC would hire a different design team. The couch next to a bed is so ugly when entering a hotel room . And really who ever goes to visit grandma and says they want to sleep on those couch beds anyway.? You join DVC and your children are small and family can squeeze into a studio and they start to grow and you have a girl and a boy and then you need the 1 or 2 bedrooms and then you realize This is expensive.and not the DVC the guide made you feel was the answer to signing on the dotted line . I have always liked staying at the Embassy Suites… but they don’t seem to be updating and the new ES Timeshare looks like a big mistake over at the MargaritaVille/ Target area. But they are about to sell out their final 5th Building . I do like the Family Suite at the Cabana Bay Resort at Universal Studios … Now I am wondering how any family can make a Fort W cabin work . I am actually considering an air mattress or figuring out a way to make the bunk bed more like a tent for some privacy for teenage grandaughter… Grandson is very tall , etc, etc… There will be 3 total . I’ll probably be happy they have those earbuds and their cellphones to maintain our family time together! Haha Is it time for me to sell DVC ? And then I look at the lengthy list of resales for sale online . DVC doesn’t sell so quickly anymore ?

It's pretty standard to have sleeper sofas in timeshares.
Whenever I went to visit my grandmother and spent the night, I slept on her pull out couch in her living room. Not everyone lives in homes with space.
Looking at the dimensions of both the sleeper chair and the Murphy single beds, if you can do one, you can likely do the other. Not everyone sleeps in the same way which means some will need way more space than 30 in wide which is actually a bigger problem for some than the actual length.

I guess my take is to give it a try at least once. Though, if he hates it after a night or two, sleeping on it the rest of the week won't be fun. Maybe a split stay where he could try it for a couple of nights? I'd hate for you to sell off DVC completely because of this and have him never even try it just to be sure it's really that bad for him.
Our personal experience: my 20yo DD#3 is a sprawler. She's 5'6" so not that tall, but very athletic and so not a slight-built person. Her whole life, her older sisters have steadfastly refused to share a bed with her because she takes up so much space. She absolutely loves the single pull-downs under the TV and will pick that every time.

Is it time for me to sell DVC ? And then I look at the lengthy list of resales for sale online . DVC doesn’t sell so quickly anymore ? Depends..... On the resort The Use Year The contract size Stripped or loaded Realistic pricing
For example, I just tried to buy a resale Riviera. It was posted and sold in just a few hours.....I did not get it.
The time to sell is when you decide to no longer go to WDW. There are plenty of people that have done so, including all the past MO admin team.....except for me.
For me, I own the points and book the rooms. I get the King bed. The kids are happy sleeping in whatever is available. The adult kids don't have to come and can freely stay at home, saving me some points. The grandsons are happy sleeping anywhere. No complainers allowed! And for the record, I don't squeeze 4 adults in a 1-bedroom.

Yes but my grandmother would have never called a fold out couch a deluxe resort Or even have a room category as sleeps 5 but will not provide towels or linens for fifth guest…
I usually travel alone and still think entering a room with the bed then a couch is not deluxe … And was fine with any size room traveling with grandson & grandaughter but as they grow older and develop high school personalities You might find your happiness with DVC “Deluxe” takes on a different aspect for many reasons … My circumstances are probably very different for myself also as I will be 75 in 2 years. I will say Disney has kept me going for many many years. Also living in 3 rd floor when I first moved here and now in a 3 level townhouse STEPS are no problem for me . So I guess that is one good thing about wanting to be close to Disney. Better health And I will never stop lovingDisneyWorld or Disneyland . When was the last time you wanted to go up the Tarzan Treehouse? The view is amazing ! IActually a few design changes with the room design would be major improvement. And make me happy.
Once upon a time a 50 point contract did not last even a day but they sure do now. And the list for most resorts in the DVC resale market is very very extensive and not selling . And yet I believe we push the agenda that DVC is the best because you can easily sell , etc… That is just not true anymore.

This model that Disney took, is no different than any other. They have elevated it by allowing us to have these fold-out Murphy beds. But to sit there and say that what they chose is bad when it was based on standards? These are Deluxe Villas which are timeshares and we must remember that. They have not gone backwards by allowing couches, they have actually gone forward by adding Murphy beds. We can agree to disagree on couches in hotel rooms. My nicer ones have often had a couch that could pull out to a single or a double sofa bed. They were usually larger than average rooms as well. My last stay at the Marquis in NYC had one. Things do fluctuate with resales. This is the time of year that people do try to dump their contracts so they don't have to pay maintenance fees next year. It always increases in the latter half of the year anyway.

I did say I wish for a few design changes and am thankful for the updates including the design under the TV and the pull down from walls… . Haven’t you ever stayed at a hotel and thought to yourself I wish DVC would see this room for the layout? I happen to believe there is always a better way.

And very narrow. Neither of these, being the Murphy bed or the chair, are very big. But the idea is that if you can sleep on one, you should be able to fit on the other. With the Murphy bed being more comfortable since it is a real mattress versus what you see in the picture. You can see in that picture that the cushions were kind of sliding around. We found that happened even when it was closed up. Definitely wasn't a fan

We are circling around to trips with the grandkids. My September family trip has now been circumvented by my daughter in laws new pregnancy. So I’m gonna be another grandma ( this one will be #4). While our vacations have changed these few years, along with the changes with Disney, we are not ready to give up our DVC.
We are now going to have to wait a couple more years to get all the grand kids to Disney ( thank goodness for Saratoga Springs! We will be needing a two bedroom for 8). But we will get back before then. We already are getting that excitement back. Taking a break really does bring the magic back.

You are a living example of what I have been preaching for years now. Families go thru cycles, traveling goes thru cycles.....just when you seem to not need DVC, you realize you need even more then you had before.
