Being old has its advantages. mrs. brp is retired. 37 working days, or fewer, for me. brp trips can be crazy, though. I retire no later than end of March, then April looks like:
March 30 - April 1 Vegas April 4-9 NYC April 10-11 possible SFO overnight, although the concert we want to see may be impossible to get tickets April 17-18 Napa (Need to use up a free hotel night)
April 20-24 Destin Beach., FL (music festival) April 27 - May 8 New Orleans (Jazz Fest)
This ain't for the faint of heart
I had thought about taking grandkids to Disney. I found that having kids is a prerequisite. That, or things that are frowned upn by law enforcement. It'll just have to be us.
Cheers.
I am exhausted just reading your trip itinerary! LOL. Cant wait to read some of your trip reports! You kiddin'? I won't have any time for TRs
Cheers.

Inflation catching up to people? I have a pension with a 3% cola every year but I can tell the difference in my buying power since I retired in 2009. The cost of everything is going up rapidly and it's affecting people's disposable income. Everything except TV's. strange that those are cheaper and larger in size. but by no means does it make up for everything else increasing. just stands out as strange. Not strange at all. tech items always become cheaper and better over time. Displays, computers, some phones (not Apple because, well, they're Apple). But this is a general, although not absolute, tech trend int eh consumer space.
Cheers.

In general, I'd agree that's how tech proceeds. But in the past couple years, most of those other things appear to have been going up in price while TV's went down. So it felt like an interesting outlier that TV's were bucking the general trend. I'd guess there's a story there about over-investment in screen manufacturing capacity combined with comparatively less supply chain interruption (car electronic components anyone?). But it should all revert back to normal as supply chains settle down and become more predictable.

Nice looking spring coming up! Our kids are getting close to college and are both still WDW nuts so I fully hope/expect we'll be like TomandRobin who went from taking their kids to taking their grandkids. We're probably 10-15 yrs from retirement and look fwd to brp trips once we're empty nesters. They should clarify that on the Monorail when they say "take small children by the hand"

Some of both. Kids are older and I am fed up of woke Disney. Using the proceeds as part of the payment of a retirement home in Costa Rica. I delayed putting them on the market since my sister asked to go to WDW in Oct last year. Her triplets were performing. Wow, I am intrigued with your move to Costa Rica!! DW has already retired. I'm getting tired of the rat race. So we have decided that 2026 will be the year. DD will finish HS in '25, but sill start duel enrollment in college starting this Fall.
We looked around and found that CR works for both of us. We are looking at homes west of San Jose. We plan on starting the immigration process this year. I is currently taking 12-18mos to complete.

Interesting. But I assume even if you "win" the auction it still needs to pass ROFR, correct?
Does anyone know if Disney is pairing back on exercising ROFR?

Interesting. But I assume even if you "win" the auction it still needs to pass ROFR, correct? Does anyone know if Disney is pairing back on exercising ROFR? From what I have read lately, Disney has not been exercising many ROFR, there is just too much inventory. Now, what needs to happen to be the real test, is for the brokers to present the really low offers. They will be coming soon if it hasn’t already happened. People are already taking the brokers options to “ buy back” contracts that don’t sell. At that point, let the lowball offers in.

Anyone else remember 2008-2011. I picked up BCV at $180 with banked points, SSR at $65 with banked points and BWV at $60 with banked points. That was roughly 60% of direct pricing at the time...but all also had full perks with them.

I just don’t understand why people would consider buying Beach Club or Boardwalk with only 20 years remaining. And strangely both seem to be higher in cost than other resorts that have longer terms remaining.
