I use it mostly to avoid feeling needy for asking for 4 blankets really. I use the touch screen since it's right there. I don't always like calling If there was a button on the app or something for "send more blankets" and you choose quantity, I would do that every time. So anyway, you just say, "Hey Disney, have them send me two more blankets"? No I actually just go on the screen and touch screen my way through it since it is right there on the startup screen. I have not tried to use voice there the way that I have at home. I know that sounds weird, but I'm not the one who could answer if you can use voice to just say that and get blankets.

Well that's fine because I feel dumb talking to things like that, when I could be typing or using a touch screen. So there is an option to "send more this and that" huh, I will have to look for that.

Yes there is that option right there! I find it really easy to use as well as the kind of put it on that home screen and make it kind of obvious if you sit and look for a second or two.

DH agrees that Alexa is a gossip. *shrug* I figure, if eavesdropping devices are a real problem, it's the smart phones that will do us in before the other electronics. I don't let my phone eavesdrop either. It isn't activated until I push the button, and not listening otherwise. I do like its ability to answer questions...but only when I want it to
Cheers.
You assume it is not listening until you push the button…..For us I just don’t really care that much, we have noticed an increase in adds after we have a discussion about a product or vacation location. We do have an Alexa speaker (that also listens) as it was the easiest way to add remote doorbell notification.

We do have an Alexa speaker (that also listens) as it was the easiest way to add remote doorbell notification. It is a setting on the phone and, yes, there are enough watchdog agencies looking at privacy issues that I very much assume that this feature works properly. Apple is not stupid enough to lie about this as there are more than enough tech savvy folks monitoring privacy to catch this and the lawsuits would be expensive.
I see ads after queries that I do make (either by voice after pushing the button or types), and I'm OK with that. Not seen things related to "off the record" conversations so, again, I am confident of the setting.
We have a Ring alarm system and that gives us remote doorbell notification. Also, having paid Ring monitoring actually decreases our homeowner's insurance by more than the cost of the monitoring, so we make money on the deal.
Cheers.
