As to the phone dieing...skipper solved that problem for me. I've gotten down to maybe 50%, but other days I was still 70%+.
I recommend the standby skipper service for sure! Skip all the lines, stay off of your phone!

I just realized I forgot to post one other bad thing.....Ride breakdowns. One our three day trip we experienced ride closures on Tower of Terror, Mickey's Runaway Rail, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ratatouille, Toy Story Mania. Two of those occurred while we were on the rides. The amount of down time I saw was ridiculous. What is going on with Disney ride maintenance? This! Walk up to SSE and ride and just where the lines merge we're told it's down so gave us a return time. Guardians was down 3 hours then the ILL was 30+ mins for a while. Test Track was in limp mode plus harsh stops. Finished it though. Went down later. Ratatouille was down more than up. Finally got on at 7:30pm. This was day 1 from 11 am until 4 (we took a break and came back at 6)

Why fix rides, when you can let them break down, causing long lines everywhere, which equates to G+ sales?

Again....I forgot more ride stuff.
On our first day in AK, Kali River Ride was closed. AK is really a shit show right now. They have some of the best attractions, yet is void of things to do. Effectively, on the day we were there, we had Navi, FOP, Safari, EE, and Dinosaur rides. Yes, Triceratops Spin is there, but its only for little kids.
On our Epcot evening, not only was Guardians and Ratatouille down, but so was Spaceship Earth. Which unfortunately, was out planned evening or rides.
In all my years and trips to WDW, I have never seen so many ride closures in a single three day trip.

We got back recently from a trip, and had trouble with bands letting us into the room, also. When we arrived, the bands wouldn't let us in, used my phone to get in. Bands worked at the park and for buying stuff, so we went to the front desk and they did something, and wife's worked but not mine. I went again and it worked that time. My band is a 1.0 style band, but it has always worked. After a week, that reservation ended and another started (same room but different contract). Suddenly bands wouldn't let us in. Not too surprised. They still worked for everything else. Went to the front desk and they fixed them, worked after that. The first time they didn't work, the lady also gave me a credit card -style room key, which I carried in my pocket...I found this way more convenient for opening the door, actually, so that's all I used for room entry. None of our phones worked for the door key. I did get two card keys to get into the room. I did not bother going back to the front desk.....why should I waste more time.
As far as the band types, between the seven of us, we had all versions.
On our recent trip I went out for a walk in the morning and forgot my band. I had never used the phone as a key but I came back, set it up, and it worked brilliantly the two times I tried it.
Cheers.

We had more today at MK. Tron was down I swear more than it was up. Same as yesterday. BGs were not being called at all for a number of hours. What we had hoped would be a good time after a GFC lunch break and others fishing with a 2pm or so return time turned into 6pm. Not thrilled.
Haunted mansion stopped literally as I was stepping off. Almost hurt myself because of the abrupt stop. People mover was down for a while too. We left for a while and came back though. It was just getting old.

I do not recall the frequency and the number of rides being down like they are now. And because of the lightning lane and Genie+, once rides come back up (if they do at all), the lightning lanes become all jammed up, which make the standby lines jammed too.

I never understand why the PeopleMover even goes down. It seems like, of all the rides to be able to just let run all day every day no problem, this would be the one.

We were stuck on the People Mover 30 minutes last Friday night, right before the fireworks. It was hot and humid because no air moved where we were stuck--the robot hair salon. Eventually a cast member unlocked our door and walked us and other riders to the end of the ride. A cast member gave us a lightning lane for our troubles.

Rides going down is also a problem at DL. I think that many/most of these rides need a complete overhaul. I sometimes think they need to completely shutdown the parks for 4-6 months to get that done. Of course, that's not logistically possible. It's a shame that Disney didn't used the COVID shutdowns to do this.
At the very least, they should do a prolonged shutdown one at a time to really refurbish every nook and cranny.

On Guardians it was really bad since we were meant to be called just before it went down. ILL was 30+ mins and the standby was 60+ we walked away. Today we were at AK. Seemed okay. Even Dinosaur behaved. We left at 1pm though because we were done.

Nice summary. Weather was freaking hot. Glad we managed some time. We were there last weekend and I thought I saw you. We were going into the Grand Floridian Cafe and 1900 Park Fare made a call for Brain party of one. I thought Brain, Princess breakfast had to be..... I was trying to catch you to reintroduce ourselves (we meet once but it has been awhile) but you were too far into the restaurant but the time I got there.
