I think DH is getting there but just because he finds traveling so stressful, which he was better at handling when we were younger. Now DH can't relax until we're settled in the room, the groceries are put away, and we're sitting on a bar stool with a drink in hand - LOL. He's partially correct in that, even without delays, travel takes a whole day now with all the TSA requirements and parking limitations around PHL because both have added 2 hours to the departure time line.
Me, I joined DVC for me. DVC was always about the resort room for me. I still enjoy the hunt for finding a room, enjoying a new resort location, trying to fit an untried food/bar destination in among enjoying our return venues. I have to admit the parks have gotten ridiculous. Frankly, DVC should've planned for G+ because it's like bribing your kid with candy, running out and handing them a hot potato. For a while post-pandemic I was just auto purchasing the AP but, this year, I told DH that we're not renewing the AP. We spend most of our park days at the bars so it's just a ridiculous $ spend.

I hear ya on this one. There have been years where we skipped WDW and used our points to upgrade to a larger room at HHI. Such a chill vacation with that Disney specialness without all the rushing around. My kiddos love it there. We've been doing WDW/Vero split vacations for years. In the last few years, it's been more Vero time than WDW time, like 3-4 WDW nights followed by 5 Vero nights.

We share brain cells. I've never watched a vlog, never read a wdw blog other than DFB 1-2 times years ago; the writing was bad, their basic knowledge of food/cooking was terrible. If something in wdw is new, I don't need to know everything about it months before our trip. I think that sucks the fun out of new experiences. In January, we met a tiktok guy, I was oblivious, he was just a guy waiting in line like us. Then I saw the phone come out, and the livestream, etc. It was like he changed personalities from nice guy to ridiculous, over the top, melodramatic. A few days after we got home, his tiktoks started showing up in my feed. Had to block him. What does all of this have to do with the "losing interest" topic? I think in general, people are surrounded by too much wdw social media, in and out of the parks. It's overkill. I think overkill is real for some. The complexities of it all weigh in too. After my post, I saw someone point out a vlogger clip that actively suggested gate crashing just to get in a pool. Not only are their cameras getting in my way, they're also saying to steal pool spots from paying guests. Entitlement is at its greatest it feels like. And for anyone wondering why WDW doesn't do something about the intrusive vloggers, it's because they provide free advertising for WDW. I saw a tiktok a few days ago doing a "review" of a BW Inn suite, with a boardwalk view, suggesting that it'd be fun to throw beads, like Mardi Gras, to people walking on the BW. I'm sure WDW would love that liability risk.

On the West Coast its generally cheaper and quicker to fly to Hawaii than the East Coast. I'm grateful we can burn points at Aulani for a few days if I don't feel like renting them out. I think we'll do that next spring break as my kids' breaks miraculously align next year.
Probably won't return to WDW until 2027 or 2028.

OMG the video was about Polynesian and talking about the fish tacos at the pool Uh oh! Honestly I get it when it's slower or the pool is empty wanting food. I'm a PVB and OKW (for now) owner too so no judgment on that.

I love it when we talk about click bait blogs! So I fired up the ol' google machine on my phone and scrolled down until I found the latest - "Disney World Officially Cuts 35-Year-Old Theme Park" and shows a picture of the Hollywood Tower. lol. Followed right behind it (same site) "Disney Officially Removes Frontierland from Magic Kingdom" mm hmm. Another site was wanting to tell me about how much they LOVE this Disney World parade change! And don't miss this amazing new EXCLUSIVE Passholder perk coming to Epcot! lol! For sure, blogs on the internet used to be a place where somebody could tell others about things (at disney or whatever) or have useful reviews about what's on the menu at restaurants. Now it's just "click here so I can make money" Yeah, occasionally I see headlines in my Yahoo! news feed from blog reprints like: "I paid $1,000/night (or $500 for lunch, etc) and it was totally worth it!" I think these people are just begging to get on the Disney media list so they can get invited to exclusive events. We are still enjoying it. There was a point I was hating, truly hating, all the planning and we were talking of selling. When they dropped reservations for date based tickets, they got me back, at least for now. Our first trip without the reservations is coming up. We’ve decided the early morning ILL and VQ we will skip this trip and aim for the 1:00pm VQs and grab whatever ILL is available when my body wakes me up, not the alarm. We were always get a late start, stay up late. But last trip it was the opposite trying to get those VQs and it sucked. For the first time in a while I am really looking forward to our trip. Regarding bloggers/vloggers, I think I know the one you are referring to and I unsubscribed a long time ago. Even others that used to be so informative, are garbage click bait, I unsubscribed to those too. There are 3 bloggers/vloggers I like to watch occasionally, because even though they get comped by Disney, they are still brutally honest when they don’t like what they are seeing, eating etc. All of that said, we have also talked about doing more resort only trips. There is plenty to do in the area (in and out of the bubble) and it’s a more relaxing vibe. Plus the cost of park tickets, until APs no longer need reservations, we will only buy the date based, which for us are cost prohibitive for more than one trip per year.

I will say, there is ONE youtube vlogger I watch, he has a super-positive outlook on everything. Which is refreshing to see. But over the years he has gotten to be more successful with his youtube gig and you can tell on the videos, it's a little different. It used to be "happy guy wandering around the park and taking us with" but it's not quite the same now, so I certainly don't watch all his stuff anymore.

I totally get it. While we love the resorts, The parks are miserable. I detest the pay-for -FP system, which should be complimentary in some form, for onsite guests. We keep our AP's.

Some of the Disney bloggers and youTubers are better than others. I still very much enjoy Tom Brickner's blogs and Molly on youTube.
eandjmom, thanks for the post on HHI. That's only 3 hours from us instead of the 8 to WDW. I'll have to ask DH and DD if they might be more interested in doing a long weekend there on points as an alternative. Oddly enough, even when we lived in Savannah we never made time to go check out HHI.

Such a chill vacation with that Disney specialness without all the rushing around. My kiddos love it there. My DH loves HHI far more than WDW. If you told him he could never go to WDW again, it wouldn't break his heart. But don't take away his trips to HHI.

I have felt this way too. We'd go and I'd be like "okay let's not come again for a while." But recently, wife and I stepped it up to one-bedroom at OKW for just the two of us. Suddenly the vacation is all about us sleeping late and making fried eggs and toast and we eat it at the table, looking out at the golf course or whatever. Then go to the pool, or go the park, all while thinking about what fun place we are going for lunch or dinner. I tell everyone that we treat OKW like an all-inclusive that happens to have Disney Parks nearby. We used to love to go other places for lunch or dinner, but Disney has made it so difficult! I remember when we could just drive over to AKL, then go down to Mara for lunch. Just one more disappointing WDW change.
