I got a $17 kit on Amazon and it worked very well. I'd give it at least 85. It was certainly several steps, but it got the job done. Yep, those kits were my inspiration to just do the clear coat, which I already had. If it didn't work, I could sand it off, or the lens is so far gone I might replace it anyway someday. I'm not pretending this spray-can clearcoat is going to last forever. Actually I'm considering using this bad lens housing as practice to do an HID conversion because one of my favorite things about new cars is the headlights.

I always like the DIY versions of these sorts of kits. Your approach is exactly the thing I like to do when I have the supplies. Great improvisation job!
Cheers.

Yeah no shortage of the various sandpapers, either. I've seen some videos where the person machine polishes it with a compound but my opinion is that when you go too fine, the paint will have trouble sticking. So my hazy lens felt and looked basically like a 800 or 1500 grit sanding so I just went with the spray. The 3M kit has these clear coat wipes but I don't know how I feel about that. Somebody was putting that PPF clear film on the lights...I was intrigued

Sometime about 25 years ago (depending on brand) cars mostly switched over to plastic headlights instead of glass. We have all seen how they become yellow, fuzzy cataract-lens versions of themselves from the UV light. (Although a lot of people don't keep cars nearly that long but I digress) Anyways my 1998 Honda has that pretty bad in one eye, the other had been replaced by previous owner. My the looks of it, the spent the hundreds required to get a genuine Honda replacement! So since "headlight restoration" is a real thing these days, I was watching all these youtube videos on guys polishing the top layer of the plastic off going through various grits and then the important part, sealing the plastic with a UV-resistant clear coat, otherwise it can be a matter of weeks until the haze comes back. Or you get a $50 one on Amazon and hope for the the best. I was staring at mine in the driveway thinking "nobody got time for that" so I just wiped it with alcohol and grabbed a can of alloy-wheel clearcoat I had in the garage and gave it three good coats... Verdict: I give it like 88 or 90/100. Yeah it's still a little yellow. But the haze is gone. Hashtag winning What a coincidence. I used a 3M headlight restoration kit on DW's car a few days ago. Yes, it's a multi-step process--three different sanding discs followed by a clear coat wipe. Total time was about 15 minutes per headlight. They look close to new.

The wipes, on the plus side, is you don't have to worry about spray. And it could potentially go on thicker than a spray. It looks satisfying, watching the video of the wipes going across that fuzzy surface and making it clear.

I have a can of Meguiar's headlight protector, that's supposed to be good for a year. I'm going to use that in a few months, if/when I see the headlights starting to yellow. 3M makes a few different kits. One has rubbing compound that you apply with a sponge. That application is messy. I like the ease of the wipes.

I swore by Meguiar's for taking car of that and it was da bomb.
The current convertible lives in the garage and doesn't get used much due to the EV sitting next to it. So less chance of renewed yellowing.
Cheers.

Freaking Jets suck on multiple continents. 3 interceptions for Jackass Aaron. Yes he has now earned the same nickname as his predecessor. Whole team needs to play better, but he has to lead the way for us to have any shot. Bring back Zack. At least he was a predicable loser jackass.
Cheers.
Hell no on Jackass Zack. Put Tyrod Taylor in there. The forever backups often do decent for us. Silent bats or no, the Phil's woke up late in the game. DH doesn't hold out much hope but it was nice that the Phil's made a game/series something to watch. As evidenced by the leadoff Schwarber home run and then nothing until the 9th. Wheeler was a monster, though.
Yup, those bats did very little from 1st to 9th inning.
Then again, Mets had only 1 hit until the 8th.
Cheers.
Apparently the sun was in their eyes (shadows made the ball hard to see until like the 7th inning was the comment) but that doesn't explain the last 2 plus months of inconsistent hitting. John, you are spot on, they appear not to know where the strike zone and just keep expanding it by swinging at everything. Things turned around a bit yesterday but I am not confident the Phills can not get in their own way again. Wheeler is indeed a monster, and he deserves more run support. Congratulations on the Game 2 victory, Janet, John, and Goofyguy1958. Sorry about the series loss. Sorry about the Game 2 loss, Bruce. Congratulations on the subsequent victories and advancing to the National League Championship Series!!! Glad to see Schwarber is still hitting those HRs. Home run hitter when he was on my Cubbies. I remember when he was a Cub. A few days in and did I think to take any pictures of my first tile experience? I've never liked timed games. Tonight my bucket didn't die until nearly three hours (refrigerated water really works, along with keeping a lid on it) and I'm like "I'm too old for this" Looking at that picture, it seems like I should have been able to easily do the whole thing in three hours...oh well that's why pros get paid the big bucks I guess. Hopefully do the last bit tomorrow and then grout the next day? Maybe. Nicely done! Mets move on to NLCS against Dodgers or Padres. OMG! My mother-in-law is a Padres fan (lives in San Diego), so I have a reason to root for them. However, the Padres scare me and I think that that Mets have a better chance with the Dodgers. We will happen to be in NYC during the 3 NYC games of the NLCS. It will be crazy fun. Cheers. Think this series will be a doozy for sure. Should be fun. Enjoy New York!

Finally was able to convince my wife it was time to turn the furnace on...58 in the house this morning. hee hee! Happens every year. She denies everything. "It's 63 in the house and going to be cold for the next week at least, I might have to turn the heat on" I say one day. "It's 61 in the house and supposed to be heavy frost overnight" I might say another day. "It's 60 in the house and going to be high of 50 for a few days" I might say again.

I'm always freezing so I'm the one who turns the heating on first. It did feel later than usual though. I did my test run in early October and I'm usually doing that in September but it wasn't cold enough for me to feel like I could run it with people in the house even as a test. A week or so ago I said it to the heat/cool setting versus just cool or just heat so it's been running I think the last couple of days. We do have it set for as low as 62 at night though.
