Seems like all cabins will be dog friendly. I had assumed that would be a separate booking category. I'd have been more surprised if it were separate simply because no other resort does it. No other DVC resort is pet friendly.

Well WDW has more than DVC that allow pets None of those have a separate booking type, the campground being one of them. Cabins never had a booking category of that and that's why I would expect the same (you do have to notify Disney if you are bringing a dog and I expect that to be same old same old)

I wonder how many people will fork out the $30 a night (I think) for a dog? I guess that leaves money in the coffers for any damage - scrapes, scratches etc. But I also wonder if they’ll reconsider the free deep cleaning if the number of requests soar.

It will be curious to see how this plays out. How many guests are actually bringing dogs? What happens after the first incident, dog on dog or dog on people attack. It may not happen, but this is new territory. Even with the extra per day "fee", how much wear and tear will those Cabins take?
Only time will tell.
You need some separation because there are guests like me, where my grandson is highly allergic to dogs (actually most pets).

$12.16/point maintenance fees. Yikes!! Didn't DVC used to lure you in with lower fees and then increase them quite a bit the couple of years after the resort sold out or do I just have recall bias?

Hard pass at $225 & $12+ MFs. That's disappointing. I love FW. Even though this is not the best time for us to consider buying anything, I could have made a case for the Fort if the trifecta of charts, price & fees had come in at a reasonable number. So it's back to keeping an eye on resale for us for now. My schedule can be extremely flexible, so current points may snag a CFW from time to time. That would be fun! Also - I wondered how much a CFW would cost for a full year. Assuming average 15 points per night at $225 per point and excluding MFs, that's over $1.2 million for a year's worth of nights at CFW. Same kind of napkin math, ignoring actual average points and MFs would have put Poly at $876,000 when those points were first offered. Now I'm winding myself up thinking about those MFs. $12.16 per point. Let's say 16 * 365 = 5,840 points for the year for one cabin (I know that's not right, but don't want to look up the real annual points cost from the charts). 5,843 * $12.16 = $71,014.40 in MFs per cabin. A brand new, straight from the manufacturer, two bedroom actual log cabin is listed for $76,300 right now. That is a listing from something we are strongly considering buying for Standing Pines. MFs high enough to cover purchasing a brand new cabin for CFW each and every year. That actually shocks me. I get CFW will be required to cover some % of FW overall operating costs. Still, there's some kind of math behind those MFs that may never make sense to me. Okay, rant over. Now back to regularly scheduled optimism & positivity!

I wonder how many people will fork out the $30 a night (I think) for a dog? I guess that leaves money in the coffers for any damage - scrapes, scratches etc. But I also wonder if they’ll reconsider the free deep cleaning if the number of requests soar. Googled it: $30 DVC and $50 non DVC. Free deep cleaning will be weird to walk back on. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't do it like now and try and keep dogs in the same sections at the cabins, and other resorts they usually pick separate floors. That way it could be easier for them to not have to worry about it as much. So if you request an allergy deep clean, they just simply won't put you in those cabins that might have it in the first place? I only know a little about booking with dogs due to someone who traveled with their dog, but I never plan to do it myself and with my husband's allergies that's about the last thing we'd want to be stuck with is a dog hair filled room. I realize it could happen anywhere, but one thing we liked about DVC was that it was never a concern for us. We never know which dog will set my husband off or not and requesting it just is not something we do. It's not something I'd want to do either. Oh darn, another reason why the cabins are for us LOL Well WDW has more than DVC that allow pets None of those have a separate booking type, the campground being one of them. Cabins never had a booking category of that and that's why I would expect the same (you do have to notify Disney if you are bringing a dog and I expect that to be same old same old) The cash hotels that allow dogs only use certain sections for those stays. Yes they do, but it's not a separate booking category. You have to call to set it up. Cabins were in the 2200 & 2300 loop, but it wasn't something you'd be able to book. They just put you there. I assume similar for new will be done or maybe they won't care at all? But you still have to pay but not sure how it'll be done.

Definitely No. Might try one for a night, but dvc execs must be on some serious hopium if they think sales will be successful atthat price and mfs.

Definite no here as well. But just curious, do they have the same resale restrictions as Riviera?

DVC is ruining one of the things that made DVC special. But that change regarding resales at new resorts is to benefit DVC and not protect the Member. The restrictions will depress the resale price, therefore making DVC more money when they excercise their Right of First Refusal, then resell the points again at full price.

We'd like to stay there for the experience but I'm not flying the dogs down. Rocky drove my eldest nuts when she use to fly home for Christmas. He never shut up = little 3 pound goof ball.
